Location
Nekemte town is located in Oromia National Regional State, in East Wollega Zone, Nekemte Zuria Woreda, at a Distance of 331 Km from Addis Ababa. Its astronomical location is 9º 04’ North Latitude and 36º 30’ East Longitude.
Foundation
Nekemte town was founded in 1872.
Nekemte is one of the reform towns in the region and has a city administration, municipality and six kebelles. The town has structural Plan prepared in 2009.
