1.1 Location
Asela is located in Oromia National Regional State, Arsi Zone at a Distance of 175 Km from Addis Ababa, and 75 Km from Adama. Its astronomical location is 7º32’15’’ N - 8º32’45’’ N Latitude and 38º 42’ 30’’ E - 40º 48’10’’ E Longitude.
1.2 Foundation
The town was founded in 1930 and currently it is the capital of Arsi Zone and Tiyo woreda.
Asela is one of the reform towns in the region and has a city administration, municipality and
of eight kebelles. The town has a structure plan which was prepared in 2008.
