According to the National Population and Housing Census carried out in 2007, the population of the town was 67,269. Out of these, 33,826 (50.28%) were males and 33,443 (49.71%) were females. Regarding age distribution 19,106 (34.53%) were within the age group of 0-15 years 45,780 (61%) 16-60 years, and 2,383(4.36%) 60 years and above. The population growth rate of the town at medium variant is 2.99% while average household size in the town is calculated to be 3.4%.
