Urban Economy and Role of the Town
The town serves as administration and trade center. There are 15 manufacturing industries; 42 small-scale industries including woodwork, metalwork, mills, hollow concrete production; 19 wholesale trades; 37 retail trades; 33 service trades in the town, which created 1087, 200, 53, 67 and 127 jobs in 2007.
The average annual revenue of the municipality was 0.9 million Birr and the major sources of revenue were taxes, land rent, and different service charges. The major investment opportunities in the town are: - real-estate, hotel, manufacturing, agro-processing, trade and recreation.
Legetafo-Legedadhi has economic linkages with the surrounding areas and Addis Ababa. The town gets grain products, livestock supply, natural resources (fuel wood, charcoal) surplus labor from surrounding areas and agricultural inputs, manufacturing and commercial products from Addis Ababa.
