Urban Economy and Role of the Town
The town serves as Hotel, Industry and Trade Center. There are seven different financial institutions giving financial services in the town. The average annual revenue of the municipality is 125,170,866.10 (average of eight years) and the major sources of revenue were direct taxes, indirect taxes and non tax revenues. Sebeta has economic linkages with the surrounding areas, towns and Addis Ababa. The town gets Agricultural Inputs and manufacturing and commercial products from Addis Ababa .Grain products, livestock supply, natural resources (fuel wood, charcoal) are supplied to the town from surrounding areas. Construction materials are supplied from Addis Ababa and the town itself. The main sources of surplus labor for the town are Oromia Region.

Education
There are seventy five kindergartens; fifty one private and nine government primary schools; twelve private and eight government junior secondary schools; nine high schools including preparatory; one TVET and three private college. The student teacher ratio was known to be 1:78 for kindergartens, 1:33 for primary school and junior secondary school. Senior secondary school had 1:41students to teacher ratio while TVET teacher to student ratio is 1:40. On the other hand; the student to class room ratio was 1:78 for kindergartens, 1:47 for primary school, 1:80 for senior secondary school and 1:78 for TVET. The enrollment rate is 113.9%, 90.73%, 89.4%, 94.60% and72.6% for kindergartens, primary, junior secondary, senior secondary and TVET School respectively.
Health
Regarding health services in the town, there are twenty one private clinics, three government health centers, twenty one private and three government pharmacies. Population to health professional ratio showed that 1 physician: 100, 000, 1 health officer: 9417 and 1 nurse: 3453 are available for the community.
Municipal services
Sebeta town has public meeting hall, an abattoir giving slaughtering service for Muslim and Christians. In the town there are general, cattle and daily markets. Solid waste is collected from door to door using tanker and twenty solid waste containers to be transported with one tractor and one dump truck and disposed in open dump site. Liquid waste is collected using vacuum truck rented from private firm while six public toilets are available in the town. Recreation center especially park covering 4 ha, green areas with area of 4000m² and 1450 road side trees are planted in the town. There are nine medium standard hotels, one stadium and seven play ground in the town. Regarding religious services there are ten churches for Orthodox Christians, seven churches for Protestants, one church for Jova Witnesses and five mosques for Muslims in the town.
