Urban Economy and Role of the Town
The town serves as town administration, trade and market center. There are 51 manufacturing industries, 38 wholesale trades, 637 retail trades, 399 service trade, one fuel station and one garage in the town. The average annual revenue of the municipality within 2009–2011 years was 9,273,697 birr and the major sources of revenue were rent, tax and service charge. The major investment opportunities in the town are: - agro-industry, dairy farm, fattening, social services hotel and tourism. Waliso has economic linkages with the surrounding areas and towns. The town gets grain products, livestock supply, natural resources (fuel wood, charcoal), surplus labor from surrounding areas. On the other hand; manufacturing and commercial products are supplied to the town from Addis Ababa while Agricultural inputs were brought from Adama. The financial institution have great role in urban-rural economic linkage.

There are eleven kindergartens; six government and eight  private primary schools; six private and five government junior secondary schools; two high schools including preparatory, one TVET, three College, University campus of Ambo and Oromia public service in the town.
 
Health
Regarding health services in the town, there are one hospital, two health centers, seven private clinics, one health post and three private pharmacies.
 
Municipal services
Waliso town has public meeting hall, an abattoir giving slaughtering service for muslim and christians; a general market meeting twice per week on Wednesday and Saturdays, a cattle market meeting once per week on Saturday. Daily markets are available at five places in the town. There is a public library and Ambulance owned by red Cross.

The town solid waste is collected using one tractor and horse-drawn cart to be disposed in open site. Liquid waste is collected by one own old vacuum truck and additional vacuum track rented from Addis Ababa while two public and thirty six communal toilets are available in the town. There is urban greenery which covers 15% of planned area while street trees are planted along 5km of the road. Recreation and related function including parks at two places with 3ha and six hotels with three stars exist in the town. In addition, one stadium and two rivers are available in the town. Regarding religious services there are four churches for Orthodox Christians, ten churches for Protestants and ten mosques for Muslims in the town.
