Yergalem town is located in South Nations Nationalities people’s Regional state, Sidama Zone at a distance of 315 Km from Addis Ababa. Its astronomical location is 60 44′ North Latitude and 380 28′ East Longitude.

Yergalem town was founded in 1931. Yergalem is one of the reform towns in the region has a city administration, municipality and kebelles. The town has a development plan.
